Functions
The Maharashtra State Dental Council (MSDC) is a statutory body constituted under the provisions of the Dentists Act, 1948,
and functions in accordance with the Bombay Dentists Rules, 1951.
The Council is entrusted with the responsibility of regulating the dental profession and ensuring the highest standards of ethics, and practice in the State of Maharashtra.
In line with the objectives of the Dentists Act, 1948, the Council is empowered to:
- Maintain and update the State Register of Dentists,Dental Hygienist and Dental Mechanic.
- Regulate the professional conduct and ethics of registered dental practitioners.
- Safeguard the interests of the public by ensuring that only duly qualified and registered dentists practice dentistry.
The functioning of the Maharashtra State Dental Council is guided by the Bombay Dentists Rules, 1951,
which lay down procedures for registration, elections, meetings, and administrative matters.
These Rules provide a framework to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective governance of the Council.
